The project involved reconceiving the historic APDesign facility to support a new approach to design education with greater interdisciplinary collaboration, joint research, an emphasis on fabrication, and the integration of the college’s design explorations into the university’s culture of research and business incubation.
This was achieved with the renovation of two historic buildings that along with the creation of a 65,000- square-foot addition that connects the buildings into a singular expanded facility. The facility aims to support the evolution of APDesign curriculum.
